Several years ago I began a quest to live my life more sustainably. First, I started by replacing my home cleaning products with vinegar, baking soda, and other non-toxic solutions. Then I took a look at my personal hygiene products, shampoos, soaps, toothpaste, and deodorant.I began buying natural and organic soaps, deodorants, and toothpastes. I quickly realized that these items were very costly; soaps cost eight dollars and more, lotions were fifteen dollars. I was amazed at the cost of an organic and sustainable lifestyle.I was an employee for a city government and I could not afford the costly products that I used in my daily life. So, with a little research I started making my own soaps, body scrubs, shea butter lotions, and shave bars. Now I control what goes into the products I use. I also have a say in where I get my ingredients and I have found several companies that share my philosophies. I also get to set my prices so that everyone can afford to make a difference.
